ATARAXIE:  (from greek Ataraxia, pronounced ATT-uh-rack-see)

Freedom from disturbance of mind or passion; imperturbability; Perfect peace of mind, or calmness.

Epicurus' definition of the end of life and of the way to it bears a superficial resemblance to that of his opponents, the Stoics. The end sought by both is ataraxia, "imperturbability," a peace of mind that transcends all circumstances, and the way to it is the life according to Nature.

The word "Ataraxia" was also used by ancient greeks for describing this state of dead, spooky calmness before something terrible occurs.

ATARAXIE is an extreme Doom/Death Metal band from France (Rouen). Ataraxie plays a dark, oppressive, melancholic music, alternating slow and heavy passages with raging death metal blasts (thus it is reductive to sum up our music to that !)
Main influences : Early and Recent My Dying Bride (from "As The Flowers Withers" to "Turn Loose the Swans" and since TLATEOTW), Evoken, Shape Of Despair, Morgion, Thergothon, diSEMBOWELMENT, Morbid Angel (to name only a few).

Le mot "Ataraxia" était également utilisé par les grecs anciens pour décrire cet état de calme étrange et morbide qui s'installe avant qu'un évènement terrible ne survienne.

ATARAXIE est un groupe de Doom/Death Metal extreme originaire de Rouen (France). Ataraxie joue une musique sombre, oppressante, mélancolique, caractérisée par une alternance entre des passages lents et lourds et des blasts de Death Metal rageurs (quoiqu'il soit réducteur de ne résumer notre musique qu'à celà !)
